Biography
Award-winning artist Sally Heston is a native of western Pennsylvania, living now in Broadview Heights, Ohio. Working primarily in watercolor and pastels, her work reflects her interest in a variety of subject matter including still life, landscape, florals, animals, and architectural structures. Her work includes a significant amount of commissioned illustration, graphic design, and paintings done for pleasure. Her career as an artist and teacher spans over 3 decades and includes work in a variety of media. She holds a BS degree in Art Education (cum laude) from Indiana University of PA (IUP) and a Master of Education degree in Art from the University of Pittsburgh. She has studied with many artists, including Frank Webb, Judi Betts, Don Andrews, Albert Handell, George James and Frederick Graff.
She is currently a member of the faculty at Virginia Marti College of Art and Design and also teaches art classes at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. She has been part of numerous group art exhibits and has won many awards for her work. She has had several one-person exhibits and her work is included in private collections locally and throughout the United States and Europe. Her biography is included in the 2004 edition of Who’s Who in American Women. Her work is also included in the 2004 edition of Splash 8: Watercolor Discoveries, published by North Light Books. Sally and husband, Newt, are the parents of two grown children and one, very spoiled, small dog.
